Nissan Kicks Tech Overview

2021 Nissan Kicks Tech Overview

The 2021 Nissan Kicks is a sporty-looking subcompact SUV that sits up to five passengers. It comes with a 1.6-liter engine, 122 horsepower, and goes from 0 to 60 in under ten seconds. This SUV has some spunk!

Despite being a subcompact SUV, it has a nice roomy cabin with a new 21-inch console-remote start to warm or cool the SUV down before you get in and head out. Push-button gears and automatic climate control are a nice bonus. You have to love technology!

You get an eight-speaker audio system with a driver headset speaker. Nice faux leather seating and dash, so it's easy to clean and keep looking nice.

Technology Overview

Now that we have taken a quick look at the 2021 Nissan Kicks and what it offers under the hood and in the cabin, let take a closer look at the state-of-the-art technology and safety features.

Informant System

Here is some technology at its best. For drivers over the age, 35-40, all this technology is new and can be confusing. Sometimes back in the good old days, our informant system consisted of a map or some directions scribbled on the back of an envelope that had directions that had words like turn left after the third barn and go about 200 feet, then turn right, and bear of to the left by the creek and we are on the left in the blue house-music - a mixed tape one FM station. As for entertainment, we didn't have streaming movies to watch on the back of the front seat- we played punch bug (see a Volkswagen Beetle Car) punch the person/people next to you while screaming punch bug! Now comparing the black and blue marks the next day was a lot of fun!

We had a key, not a fob. We had a crank to roll the windows up and down, not a button to push. Doors were locked by pushing down the button and unlocked by pulling the button up. Now you exit the car, and it either locks automatically of you point your key fob at the car or at least in the general direction and click the lock button once or twice same applies to unlocking the vehicle.

The only way we knew the car in front of us had stopped or if there was a pedestrian in the road if we didn't see it for ourselves was by the "backseat driver" yelling and pushing on their imaginary brake.

Luckily for everyone who ventures out on the roads, either in a vehicle or on foot, the technology available today in almost all new cars is phenomenal and so much safer for everyone.

Back to today's informant system, if you sync your smartphone to it, you can use everything hands-free (we had a dime for the payphone on the corner). You can make phone calls, send text messages, stream music, have a soothing voice, give you directions to your destination, show you a map with an arrow to keep you on the right path. You can have a seven-inch or eight-inch touchscreen in color!

Safety Technology

To say the very least, safety technology has come a long way. Back in the day, we had seat belts, and for some of us, we didn't even have to wear them! It was our choice. Can you even imagine not wearing a seat belt? Or putting your four-year-old in the front seat without one or even with one. Thankfully, safety in vehicles has come a long way in the past few decades.

Let's look at the 2021 Nissan Kicks safety features. It has automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection. Lane-keeping assists, lane departing alerts and assistance that assists you back into the center of your lane, adaptive cruise control that slows your car down if it senses you are too close to the vehicle in front of you, front collision alert, rear alert, so you don't back into a car or object while backing up, wide rear-view cabin mirror so you can see everyone inside and everything behind and to the side of your vehicle. A surround mirror that lets you see all the way around your car makes backing up much easier.

The technology and safety features on the 2021 Nissan Kicks put your mind at ease and gives you a sense of safety, especially when you're on a long road trip or have your children in the vehicle.
